Privacy Notice

1. Who we are

Anchor is run by Andrei Schiller-Chan, trading as Anchor Grappling, who is the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact us at anchor.grappling@gmail.com.

Anchor is hosted on Microsoft Azure in the UK South region, and your account data and videos are stored there. Didit, which runs our identity and age checks, processes data mainly inside the European Economic Area. The UK recognises the EEA as giving adequate protection. If Didit or its subcontractors move data beyond the EEA, they use approved legal safeguards, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

2. What we collect

  • Account details from Google sign-in: name, email and profile photo.
  • Your profile: handle, belt, bio and photo.
  • Videos, annotations, analysis branches and votes you post.
  • Private journal entries, visible only to you.
  • The result of your identity check (status and dates), plus a record of your consent.

3. Identity checks by Didit

New members verify their identity and age. Anchor requests the check and Didit runs it as our processor. The check uses a photo of your ID document, a selfie and a liveness check, which involve biometric data. Anchor receives the result, not your document or face images.

Didit keeps face templates only to spot duplicate or multiple accounts for Anchor, and never uses them to train models. Read Didit's Verification Privacy Notice and End User Terms for Identity Verification.

4. Why we use it (legal basis)

  • Running your account and the community features: to provide the service you signed up for.
  • Identity and biometric processing: your explicit consent, given before the check starts.
  • Safety, moderation and preventing abuse: our legitimate interest and legal duties, including child protection law.

4a. Your videos, AI and copyright

Videos you upload go through our AI safety and moderation pipeline and are indexed so members can search them. We never sell your videos.

To report content that infringes your copyright, see section 5b of our Terms or email anchor.grappling@gmail.com.

5. How long we keep it

We keep account data while your account is open. Consent records are kept as proof for as long as the law requires. Didit keeps verification data for the period set in our agreement with them.

When you delete a video, we delete it straight away and do not keep a separate copy for our own use. Where the law requires us to hold a record, for example a report made to a child protection authority, we keep only what that law demands and for no longer than it demands.

6. Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, object to processing, or withdraw consent. Withdrawing consent for identity checks means closing your account. Email anchor.grappling@gmail.com. In the UK you can also complain to the ICO.

7. Children

You must be 16 or older to join, in every country, and 18 or older to upload videos. Didit checks your age at sign-up. We delete accounts we learn belong to anyone under 16. See our Terms for our child protection rules.
