Frequently asked
The short version of how Anchor works.
- What is Anchor?
- A calm space for BJJ practitioners to study footage. Slow the roll down, anchor timestamps to notes, and vote on the next best offensive or defensive move.
- How do annotations work?
- Pause a video, mark the frame, then pick the offensive and defensive positions and drop a note. Your annotation shows up as a scrubber bookmark and in the table of contents beside the video.
- What is an analysis video?
- A video whose owner opened it for community branching. Each timestamp can grow forks — competing offensive and defensive answers that the community upvotes.
- How do gyms work?
- Join a gym to follow your coaches' technique-of-the-day and receive in-app announcements. Coaches can post; the gym owner approves join requests.
- Who are Verified users?
- Established black belts and recognized gym owners carry a verified badge. Verified users can flag their annotations as authoritative instruction.
- How do gym admin requests work?
- When someone creates a gym they can apply as admin. The request goes to our team for review, and you'll receive a notification within a few days. Multiple admins can hold the role on a single gym.
- What's the training journal for?
- A private log of your own sessions. Add text notes, position tags, and reference videos, then search across your whole history.
